10. Kanye West
It seems no story can be complete without a mention of the Kardashian-West family! Kanye West was in fact one of the first celebrities to announce his candidature for President 2020. And, it was no tongue-in-cheek comment as the RnB artist was pretty serious about what he intended to do. After making an incredibly long acceptance speech at 2015 MTV Awards which honoured him for his contribution to music, Kanye announced his intention to run for the White House. In the same speech he also ironically added that he had no interest in politics, but only in humanity and felt that he must do something to make a difference while he is alive. Would 2020 see Donald Trump run against Kanye West? Kim Kardashian in the White House would certainly be a fashionable First Lady!
For years, fans of this TV talk show mogul have always hoped that she would make the world a better place by running for president. While Oprah has never confirmed any opinion on the matter, she hasn’t denied the possibility of it happening either. The fever around her possible candidature reached an all-time high after Oprah’s powerful acceptance speech at the 2018 Golden Globes where she was awarded the Cecil B. DeMille award. Looking regal in a black gown, Oprah strongly tackled issues such as race equality and women’s empowerment, thus leaving many people wondering what a powerful impact she could make as the head of state. The talk show queen herself has vehemently stated that she has never envisioned herself in politics so, would she change her mind and actually run for president? Only time will tell!
08. George Clooney
Considering the huge female fan base that he has, if Clooney actually ran for president, he wouldn’t have a hard time getting votes from half the population of the country. And, this might actually be a reality come 2020. The handsome Hollywood star has always been outspoken about his support for the Democrats and this makes us wonder, would they consider Clooney as their 2020 candidate? In fact, Clooney has been often asked if he would consider aiming for the big job and the actor has always coolly responded that he might actually consider it. And, if rumours are to be believed, George for President in 2020 might actually be a reality. It does help that the actor’s wife Amal Clooney is a human rights lawyer as she can guide him on many legal aspects of the big job.
07. Katy Perry
Katy Perry might not seem like a figure to head a country, yet this feisty popstar might consider doing just that. Back in 2016 when Hilary Clinton ran for the White House, the California Gurlz singer was one of her biggest campaign supporters. Perry herself dropped the bomb when she took to Instagram to post an image that would rock the internet. In the picture, the singer is posing with former Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush and, she has captioned it, “42, 43, 46?!” Well, Trump is the 45th President of the United States and he has sure proved that a celebrity can head the Oval office? Could Katy Perry be in contention for the 46th President of the United States post and perhaps become the first woman to head the country? Only 2 years more to go!
06. Will Smith
Hollywood actor Will Smith has indeed come a long way from his Fresh Prince of Bel Air days. Gone is the comic timing in favour of a more serious and mature demeanour. In a recent sound byte, Smith told the interviewer that he wasn’t happy with the way things were going in the country and that he felt if the situation continued, he might be forced to enter the political arena. This prompted the interviewer to ask the actor in what capacity he would enter politics, to which Smith cheerily quipped ‘I gotta be the President”. All we can say is, if Will Smith decides to gun for the big job, his wife Jada Pinkett Smith would make an elegant First Lady by his side.
05. Chris Rock
Now, no one’s sure if this is just a joke that’s been spun off Rock’s satire movie Head of State, or if the comedian was actually being serious about heading the Oval Office. Chris Rock himself took to twitter to announce that he was going to run for the big job by posting a picture of the 2003 movie and captioning it, ‘I’m gonna run in 2020 wish me luck’. This led to an internet frenzy with fans getting divided in opinion on whether or not to take the post seriously. This post came soon after Donald Trump won the 2016 elections. Since then, there have been no further updates from this stand-up comedian, but knowing how unpredictable life can be, we might just witness his candidature for real.
04. Mark Zuckerberg
Certain rumours have been floating around that claim Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg could run for President in 2020. Now, one could argue that the self-made billionaire already kind of runs the whole world by being the head of social media site Facebook, yet, why not take up an actual head of state profile. Many are of course divided in their opinion of his candidature, but there’s no doubt that if he does, Zuckerberg will have a ton of supporters. In fact, when asked about his possible candidature, Zuckerberg only replied, “I’m focused on building our community at Facebook and working on the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative,”. While that is not exactly an affirmative response, it isn’t a ‘no’ either. We can only wait with bated breath to see what happens on this front.
03. The Rock
Another Hollywood actor with presidential ambitions is the beloved, muscled hero The Rock. Also known by his birth name Dwayne Johnson, this tall actor has stirred up a storm by dropping hints that he might run for President 2020. Talk show hosts Graham Norton and Ellen DeGeneres have both brought up the topic on their respective shows, and while The Rock has not confirmed anything, he hasn’t denied the rumours either. In fact, he was quoted as saying “One day, and that day will come, I can impact the world through politics. The great news is that I am American, therefore I can become President”, before cheekily adding “But don’t forget: I am G.I. Joe.” One things for sure and that is that Dwayne Johnson has done much to give back to society and if he does run for president, many people will stand behind him.
02. Hilary Clinton
Over the years, Hillary Clinton has undoubtedly built a powerful name for herself: initially as First Lady during her husband Bill Clinton’s presidency, then serving as a Secretary of State during the Obama presidency and finally running as a Democrat nominee for the President’s office. While she no doubt lost the first Democrat nomination to Barrack Obama in 2008 and then again, the election in 2016 to Donald Trump, many are wondering if she will run again in 2020. Experts do believe that if Clinton runs once again against Trump, she would actually win the rematch due to growing unrest over the Trump administration. Will third time be a charm for this lady stalwart? Hillary Clinton has already made history by becoming the first former First Lady to serve in the United States cabinet. Now will she become the first female president of the United States? We can only wait and watch.

01. Ivanka Trump
Perhaps the most likely possibility on this list is Ivanka Trump running for President to succeed her father. While the eldest Trump daughter has not officially confirmed the news, sources state that she plays a major role in the Trump administration and has the personality of a figure in power. Quite the characteristics needed to head a country. Moreover, many would remember Ivanka’s strong speech to introduce her father at his presidential campaign kick-off. Till date though, Ivanka has maintained that like most people of her age, she still does not take a political stance and feels neither Democrat nor Republican. In all honesty, this beautiful business lady has many detractors who simply laugh off her possible political ambitions. Yet, only time will tell whether she will win the big job to become the first female president of the United States.
